Dear Parents/Guardians,
We have settled into a nice routine now in our third week back at Cairine Wilson. Thank you for your patience as we work through our revised policies and procedures aimed at keeping us all as safe as possible. This includes sanitizing classrooms daily, as well as high traffic touchpoints multiple times a day. Our revised student drop off and pick up for parents has now been shifted to Orleans blvd as well.
Please find the full year OCDSB calendar by cohort embedded in this link.
Thank you for your patience as we continue to refine our curriculum delivery.

A Message from Student Services regarding course selection
Hello Parents and Students,
If you are currently experiencing difficulties logging into XELLO please clear your web browser's cache and try again. This normally resolves the issue.
Dear CW Students,
The time for you to select your courses for next school year is nearly upon you. Mr. Kirby and Mr. Wolfe will be conducting presentations next week to all our students about how you can select your courses.
If you are currently in Grade 9 or Grade 10: you can hear the course selection presentation on Wednesday, Feb. 17th from 2:30pm to 3:30pm. Here is the link to watch the video of the presentation.
If you are currently in Grade 11: you can hear the course presentation on Thursday, Feb. 18th from 2:30pm to 3:30pm. Here is the link to watch the presentation: Grade 11 Xello presentation.
These presentations will be recorded and posted on our school website afterwards for you to refer to. Also, contact your guidance counsellor if you have any questions about your courses.
In the past, students have used the online platform called Career Cruising to select their courses. Career Cruising has been replaced by a new platform called Xello. Students can access their Xello account by going to the OCDSB homepage, select Student Portal, select Login, then use their school email address as their username and password to login. After they've logged in, they can select the Xello tile and have a look at this new platform and some of the resources that are available to them. For example, Xello has some helpful career exploration tools that students can use, such as Matchmaker. For more in-depth information and video's explaining how to use the new Xello tool, please click on the student services tab at the top of this page.
In this link is a quick cheat sheet guide for using XELLO at CW.
For any students who might be considering moving to the virtual school for next year - also known as the Ottawa-Carleton Virtual Secondary School (OCVSS) - you can select this in your Course Planner in Xello.
Note: selecting the OCVSS is an expression of interest at this point, not a guarantee.
Please consult this One Page Summary for students to help guide you in selecting the OCVSS for next year.
The earliest you can submit your course requests is February, 24. The deadline to submit your course requests is March 19,2021.
Let us know if you have any questions. Please stay safe and take care.
